Overview

Ile Thomas Qualifications is a new and innovative awarding organisation dedicated to providing high-quality diplomas in the Creative Arts. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our qualifications team and drive the strategic development and delivery of our qualification portfolio.


The Head of Qualifications will play a critical role in shaping the future of Ile Thomas Qualifications by overseeing the design, development, and review of our qualifications. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of the qualification development process, regulatory requirements, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and relevance for our learners.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage the qualifications team to develop and implement strategic plans for the creation and improvement of qualifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all qualifications meet regulatory standards and maintain the highest levels of quality, reliability, and validity.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of qualification development projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including industry experts, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies, to inform qualification development and ensure relevance.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in qualification design and development processes, incorporating feedback from learners, educators, and industry partners.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to qualification development and delivery.
  • Team Development: Mentor and support the qualifications team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources effectively to support the development and delivery of qualifications, including budget oversight and allocation.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about trends and developments in the education and qualifications sector to ensure our offerings remain competitive and relevant.


Other Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Ile Thomas Qualifications’ internal processes and the wider educational landscape.
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding qualifications and support other teams.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Ile Thomas Qualifications’ products and services.
  • Manage data: inputting, filing, and monitoring.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of team Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support and complete qualification withdrawals where applicable.
  • Support and conduct qualification validity reviews in line with an established process where applicable.
  • Support with centre-devised assessment queries from recognised centres and colleagues.
  • Support with Accredited Prior Learning and Recognised Prior Learning for recognised Approved Centres.
  • Support the wider qualifications team with decision-making and queries relating to qualification processes.


Key Requirements


  • Proven experience in qualification development and management within an awarding organisation (preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Highly organised and efficient.
  • Confidence in owning processes and managing time to meet deadlines.
  • Prepared to work in a regulated environment with constant regard to requirements from external regulators and internal processes.

As we grow, we strive to innovate and refine the design, development, and delivery of our qualifications to ensure they meet the highest standards for our learners and partners.


The main purpose of this role is to manage the development of new qualifications.


The Qualification Developer will play a crucial role in our team, bringing expertise in the qualification development process and excellent project management skills to ensure timely and compliant delivery of qualifications. Additionally, this role involves supporting others with advice and guidance related to qualification development and associated processes.


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, pays great attention to detail, and is committed to accuracy.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and coordinate qualification development projects
  • Complete compliant development processes in line with internal policies and procedures
  • Maintain and develop the qualification development process, working to improve and streamline procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manage external stakeholders and associates involved in the qualification development activity to ensure timely project delivery
  • Contribute to the development of assessments managed by stakeholders to ensure they are fit for purpose prior to regulation
  • Proactively research and pursue new development opportunities, including partnerships and collaborations with new and existing stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of qualification development and other relevant processes
  • Systematic review of qualifications and manage the withdrawal process for obsolete products
  • Produce and review specifications and other documents associated with our qualifications, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain our database of qualifications to ensure all entries are up-to-date and accurate
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure all available development information is accessible for new upcoming developments and newly regulated qualifications
  • Represent Ile Thomas Qualifications at sector and Awarding Organisation forums
  • Contribute to the Marketing and Business Development strategy by providing technical advice and guidance on the qualifications
  • Keep up-to-date with regulatory updates, policies, and initiatives related to qualification development

Ile Thomas Qualifications is seeking passionate and skilled practitioners to join our team. We welcome individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and value the diverse perspectives they bring. The role involves the creation of module content for our Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas in Music and Performing Arts.


Requirements:

  • A proven track record of practical, hands-on experience in the industry.
  • A professional qualification at Level 5 or above in any of the following areas:
    • Performing Arts
    • Music Performance
    • Music Production
    • Music Technology
    • Songwriting/Composition


Essential Experience:

  • Current or recent experience in teaching and/or assessing within the above subject areas.
  • Alternatively, substantial work experience in the sector will also be considered.
